You’re working on a project with a difficult client. How can you turn the situation around?
Confirm understanding! Expressing the client's or colleague's needs in different words demonstrates active engagement and allows for clarification on any overlooked details. This not only holds them accountable for the information shared but also reduces the likelihood of misinterpretation, ensuring a more accurate understanding of their goals or mission.

How can you set boundaries for a healthy work-life balance?
Understanding your boundaries and the methods you employ to set them is vital, especially in remote work settings. Nowadays where the home office is just a few steps away and daily commutes are obsolete, the necessity for continuous connectivity, such as instant messages or work emails directly on your phone, diminishes greatly. I have had many colleagues say that the last thing they do before sleep (while in bed) and the first thing they do in the morning (again... still in bed) is check their slack messages & work emails. Take time to disconnect, everything will be there the next time you log in. As for the people who may REALLY need you in a work emergency, they probably have your personal cell info. already (amiright...?)

You're preparing for a job interview. How can you make the most of your time?
As an interviewer, a flag for me is someone who answers "No" to the first instance of "Ok so do you have any questions for me/us?" Even if you have all your information, you should never leave that kind of a prompt hanging. Two great ones to have at the ready (for almost any scenario) are: 1. "What would the next stages of the the interview process be if we were to move forward?" 2. "I had a few questions about (so and so) but you covered them all quite well when you walked me through the (eg: benefits plan) earlier."

What are some strategies to effectively communicate your work-life balance needs in an interview?
It is not only beneficial to emphasize the importance of flexibility but also crucial to express your willingness to reciprocate that flexibility. For example, a single parent may need to end their day early on certain days due parental duties, yet they can equally be open to accommodating beyond standard hours on days without such commitments. Emphasizing this back and forth is not just about personal needs but also underlining the value one can contribute in return for the trust and flexibility granted, ensuring a win-win scenario regardless of circumstance.
