Boomers gonna boom? So interesting to see that the 40–49 demographic is now leading in game engagement time, and teens are now the least engaged! This is a sea change in mobile gaming. The good part: Players have real money. The concerning part: Are we losing the younger generation, and if so, why? The overall positive I see in adjoe’s Mobile Games Index, however, correlates strongly with Singular’s data: Mobile games are growing again.
John Koetsier
VP Insights at Singular

The mobile games market grew at 7.28% reaching $166.1B worldwide in 2024. Discoverability remains to be a key issue for mobile publishers. The openness of more established publishers to include ads in their games should allow more UA to take place and increase the fluidity of the market. At the current pace, the global mobile gaming market will reach a volume of $227B by 2028.

After a challenging year, it’s fantastic to witness the mobile game industry rebounding with increasing daily engagement and longer playtimes across diverse genres. This growth trajectory highlights strong engagement from various player groups, including women and different age ranges. It will be intriguing to see how new games perform in this dynamic landscape, especially given the current dominance of major publishers.
