What has happened so far? It has been three months since we revealed Pax Dei. And here are a few things that happened behind closed doors: We kicked off our Friends & Family Closed Alpha. It was a necessary first step to prepare for later, larger tests with thousands of players. It helped us to improve server stability, loading times and performance in general, along with discovering and fixing (a lot of) bugs. The feedback we’ve already received have been key for us to make a lot of balancing decisions (resources, crafting, combat) and to review our priorities for the coming quarters. In parallel, the work on the Pax Dei Main Build continued. We developed and improved the internal tools, followed up with UE5 updates, iterated on the core game systems, reviewed, hardened and added resources, enemies, gear, props, biomes, provinces, SFX, VFX... and plenty of other things. Recently, we expanded the playable map by adding a new province called Merrie. Combined with Ancien, the first province, we now have around 130-150 km² of land to inhabit. Tree chopping and Mining have been revamped for an improved feeling, and the building system has been entirely overhauled (and expanded) to make it smoother and to provide more creative opportunities. All these improvements are part of the steps before lifting the NDA on our Alpha and opening it to more players. |

Read and Watch As a starter, let’s talk about one of the freshest pieces of content, the PC Gaming Show 2023! In May, a PC Gamer crew traveled to Finland to interview two development team members, Reynir and Sulka, who delved into Pax Dei’s vision and setting. On top of featuring Pax Dei in the PC Gaming show 2023, PC Gamer also crafted and released an 18-minute video about PxD that you can catch on their YouTube channel. Since the game's announcement, we've been busy addressing a multitude of topics raised on our Discord server by releasing informative FAQs. Covering a wide range of subjects, including General information, Gameplay mechanics, Building, Plot details, and World lore, these FAQs are now available in English, German, and French on the Pax Dei website!
In addition to that, we've shared several pieces, including: - Making the World of Pax Dei, a 4-minute video featuring in-game footage and interviews about the making of the world of Pax Dei.
- Two short clips demonstrating the intricacies of the building system in both Daylight and Nighttime settings.
- Many screenshots from the Alpha builds including two important galleries showcasing the game's enchanting atmosphere, and some of the most impressive buildings created by our eminent Private Alpha testers.
- Some concept artworks accompanied by pieces of lore.

What will come next? The dev team is hard at work prepping the game and its infrastructure to be as clean as possible when we open the gates. We can’t wait to let more people in during our first public test planned for later this year! (*) In the meantime, we will continue to (try to) satisfy your curiosity by unveiling other parts of the game and its world - after the summer. We still have a long road ahead of us, and everything will come in time. (*) You read it here first! |
