Josh Brolin is already busying giving “Deadpool” fans a glimpse into his preparation to play Cable, the time-traveling mutant, in the sequel. His casting as the villain was just announced last week.

“You know, just meditating. #deadpool2 #clostraphobiarocks#ryanreyondsismybitch #umguys,” the actor posted on Instagram on Tuesday, along with a photo of his face covered in blue molding goop.

A second photo showed him covered in another, thicker mold, which Brolin captioned, “Oh, you thought the other one was gnarly. Ha! #discipline#billcorso #nomoreeffincookies#citoratsuperhero#breathingisforpussies.”

Bill Corso, who did the makeup work on the first “Deadpool,” was tagged in the images.

Last week, Brolin was cast in the sequel opposite Ryan Reynolds as the titular Merc with a Mouth, which came with a four-picture deal. The role had been hotly sought after following the surprisingly explosive success of the first “Deadpool” film in 2016.

This won’t be Brolin’s first superhero rodeo. His previous recent roles include playing Thanos in “The Avengers” films and “Jonah Hex” in the DC adaptation of the same name. Thanos, however, is part of Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe while Deadpool is part of 20th Century Fox’s separate X-Men universe. The two have yet to cross over.

Created by artist Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, Cable first appeared in a tease at the end of “The New Mutants” issue #86 in February of 1990. The scarred, ravaged character has a bionic left arm, a cybernetic eye, and embedded technology that allows him to hack into computer systems.
