Sunny (Apple TV+)

When her husband and daughter disappear in a mysterious plane crash, Suzie (Rashida Jones) is left adrift in her adopted home of Kyoto, Japan. In a strange gesture, she is gifted a robot named Sunny made by the electronics company where her husband worked. But she soon develops a bond with the humanoid, and the unlikely duo work to find out what happened to Suzie's family.

Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer (Hulu)

What makes a serial killer tick? This documentary charts the career of Dr. Ann Burgess, an FBI specialist who swapped nursing for digging into the lives of the country's most notorious psychopaths in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Teen Torture (Max)

While the title may sound like an 80s slasher flick, this documentary series examines the abusive business of "troubled teen" facilities. They promise to turn "bad kids" around, but as the victims in Teen Torture explain, it's all just a money-making scheme that results in seriously traumatized kids.

Me (Apple TV+)

For something a little lighter, this 10-episode series follows Ben, a middle-schooler who discovers he has super powers and sets out to figure out what's happening to him (and why) with an assist from his new stepsister Max.

Exploding Kittens (Netflix)

Netflix has turned the card game from the creator of The Oatmeal into a streaming series. Tom Ellis is God, whose team thinks he needs a reality check, so they send him to Earth as a cat. Turns out, the Antichrist has the same idea and also pops up on Earth as a feline, right next door.

Faye (Max)

When you think "movie star," Faye Dunaway may spring to mind, from her Oscar-winning role in Network to the campy tour de force of Mommie Dearest. But as is the case with many Hollywood stars, it's not all glitz and glamour. This documentary gives us a peek behind the camera at Dunaway's life and career.

About Chloe Albanesius

Executive Editor for News

I started out covering tech policy in Washington, D.C., for The National Journal's Technology Daily, where my beat included state-level tech news and all the congressional hearings and FCC meetings I could handle. After a move to New York City, I covered Wall Street trading tech at Incisive Media before switching gears to consumer tech and PCMag. I now lead PCMag's news coverage and manage our how-to content.
