Top 5: Questions we want answers to after watching the ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5 trailer

Finally the new trailer has been released and Game of Thrones fans desperate to know what happens next are getting some clues. But wait, this teaser seems to raise more questions than it answers! If you’ve been reading the books at the same time you might have more ideas than the rest of us, but since the series has already significantly diverged from them already we wouldn’t bet that you book worms have all the answers. So mainly, what we want to know is:

What about the new characters?

We nearly wet ourselves when nine new characters were announced at Comic-Con 2014. Fans expected that the trailer would be feature new blood, and we were eager to spot Jonathan Pryce, Alexander Siddig, Toby Sebastian, Keisha Castle-Hughes, DeObia Oparei, Myrcella Baratheon, Enzo Cilenti, Jessica Henwick, and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers in their new roles for the series, but no, nothing doing.  Only Jonathan Pryce’s voice is heard, musing “Strip away the gold, knock down the statue, and this is what remains…”

Who is Olenna Tyrell so annoyed with?

Last time we saw Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrell, she was informing Margaery that her work here was done and that she would be going home. But half way through the trailer here she is, threatening someone with the ominous words “They’ll never even find what’s left of you.” So who is it? Cersei Lannister, with her intrigues against Margaery  and Tyrell? Cersei’s ally, High Sparrow? Someone else? WHO?

What are Sansa and Littlefinger up to now?

In the trailer, we see plenty of Sansa, and it’s quite a surprise for us because we thought that she’d finished her “Feast for Crows” storyline. Is the series moving ahead of the books or is this a whole new storyline just for the show? “Avenge them.” says Littlefinger as Sansa weeps. Who? Her long dead family members? Probably not. There are shots of knights riding through what looks like the Vale. Is Sansa about to lead House Arryn into battle? Is she about to lose? We can’t wait to find out.

Where do the black and white doors go?

The mysterious doors, one black and one white, have already been seen several times in various teasers. Arya Stark is standing in front of them now, and since last time we saw her she was heading to Braavos it seems reasonable to suppose that this is where they are located, but where do they lead to?

Are the men in black a new faction?

Who are the mystery men in plain black robes? They look like they are in King’s Landing. Could it be that there is a new faction looking to gain power now that Tywin Lannister isn’t around? Who are they, and who is their leader?

These are questions we can only speculate on until we can finally sit down and watch the first episode! Game of Thrones Season 5 is out on 13th April on HBO for UK fans. The HBO site is the place to head for more Game of Thrones information.
