How to meet friends on IGN
Meeting Friends
There are many different ways to meet people on IGN. You have the boards, blogs, and the wikis to help in getting your thoughts and ideas noticed which will get the attention of others on the site.
Blogs
Blogging is a really great way to meet people on IGN. A well thought out and detailed blog usually promotes some form of discussion and tends to result in people following you. Make sure that when you're expressing your opinions you keep your words respectful because if you sound harsh then people will respond the same way. If you happen to disagree with a blog, don't criticize it. Instead, discuss your own opinion and often it leads to a friendly conversation about the topic.
Wiki editing
Many users like being able to go to the wiki pages and find exactly what they need to complete the game. If you make a lot of great edits to wikis that people need they tend to recognize your contributions and follow you for it.
Boards
The boards are a great way to start or continue a discussion about a topic. The boards range from a wide variety of topics so it is easy to find a topic that relates to something you want to talk about, and if there isn't you can always make a topic of your own. Making well thought out and respectful comments on the boards will get you noticed by the other members of the site.
Facebook
The MyIGN experience doesn't stop at the main website. Members of MyIGN have created their own Facebook groups where IGNers can talk to each other. A lot of members use their real names on Facebook, making it slightly more personal than the main website. You can even send friend requests to other IGNers so you get to see what members are like outside of IGN.
There are currently two big MyIGN Facebook groups: 'My IGN' and 'My IGN Crew!'. These are both closed groups and each have their own respective rules and members. Generally you won't have any trouble getting in. However, entry to all cannot be guaranteed.
Skype, AIM, MSN
If you want to have real-time conversations with other IGNers, Skype, AIM and MSN all give you that opportunity. A lot of users have an account to at least one of these IM services. Ask them to add you if you want to get to know someone better. There's also a few IGN groupchats on Skype. You're going to have to find out about those by asking members so they can add you to them.
Tinychat
Tinychat is a website where several people can chat with each other. The great thing about this is that it doesn't require you to create an account or download any software.
Besides text, up to 12 people can turn on their webcams and microphones to talk to each other. This is a great way to get to know people and find out what they really look and sound like. People can also stream videos for everyone to enjoy.
There have been several active IGN Tinychat rooms in the past years. Nowadays, the majority of rooms are deserted. One of the only places that still has a couple of visitors is the MyIGN room.
Be Nice
Nobody likes a jerk or a troll so if you go around making harsh comments on the pages you're going to get noticed but you won't make any friends. If you continue showing good merit to the blogs, boards, and/or wikis people will notice and you won't have any problems making friends on the site.
