- "Your ship registry is originally from the Republic world of Transel. Therefore you are a Republic citizen."
- ―Judge Shelkar, to Revan
Transel was an obscure, backwater terrestrial planet[2] located in the Transel system, a part of the Southern Core portion of the Colonies. It was situated on the hyperlane known as the Shipwrights' Trace, which connected it to the Bassadro, Fondor, and Surric systems.[1]
A small starship engineering company was based on Transel. At a single manufacturing plant, the firm, which at one point was acquired by the larger Core Galaxy Systems corporation, for many years produced the Dynamic-class freighter,[2] which had been designed by 4000 BBY.[4] By 3956 BBY,[5] Transel was a member of the Galactic Republic.[3]
The starship registry of the Ebon Hawk, a Dynamic-class freighter owned by the Exchange crime lord Davik Kang, was originally from Transel. When the ship's next owner, Jedi Padawan Revan, visited Ahto City on the neutral[3] Inner Rim[6] planet Manaan[3] in 3956 BBY,[5] the Ahto City Civil Authority judge Shelkar informed[3] him[6] of that fact, from which the judge further extrapolated that Revan was a Republic citizen.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
Transel was introduced in the 2003 BioWare video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. In the game, the planet can be mentioned in an optional conversation the player character, Revan, can have with the character Shelkar. This article assumes one hundred percent game completion and that the conversation took place as described.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Transel system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square L-13.[1]
