The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight 1 is the first issue of the 2023 comic miniseries Star Wars: The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight. The issue was written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Ibraim Roberson and Fer Sifuentes-Sujo, and published by Marvel Comics on October 4, 2023.

Little has been revealed about the year following the fall of STARLIGHT BEACON and the ultimate triumph of THE NIHIL…until now! THE JEDI COUNCIL, reeling from its losses, has recalled its JEDI KNIGHTS from across the galaxy and instituted the emergency measures. MASTER YODA has a plan to save the Order and the galaxy, but he must touch the dark side to achieve it…and the consequences will be grave indeed.

Plot summary[]

Centuries before the Clone Wars or the Empire, during
the glorious era of THE HIGH REPUBLIC, the Jedi were
at their height.

The galaxy was at peace until dangerous marauders
known as the NIHIL caused THE GREAT DISASTER. Their
attack on the Jedi and the Republic reached its peak
with the destruction of STARLIGHT BEACON, a space
station meant to symbol hope and unity.

Now, the Jedi have been recalled to Coruscant, fearful
of the Nihil and the monstrous creatures they possess….

Soule did a lettering pass for the comic in August, 2023.^[4] He teased there were many details included in the comic and even revealed it would see the return of a major character, Kirak Infil'a.^[5]
