"I've wondered what kind of man would be willing to sell out his own world for Groodo's credits."
"I like money. And I'm not so fond of people."
"Then we should get along fine. What happened to the droids on the Sun Runner replica?"
"They were destroyed by Jedi, along with the entire ship."
"What a waste. I put a lot of time into them."
"The Jedi were more cunning than I realized. However, they are presently on Fondor's moon, Nallastia. If we are to fulfill our plan to bring Fondor to ruin, we must act now."
―Hurlo Holowan, droid engineer of the Sun Runner replica, and Senator Rodd of Fondor[1]

Hurlo Holowan was a female Human droid designer and engineer from Kuat and the daughter of a wealthy merchant house patriarch. She designed the Razor Eater, the fiercest killing machine ever seen on the planet.

Biography[]

"Mandalorian armor. Very rare, extremely durable. You make a nice-looking couple. Can I assume you're both bounty hunters?"
"Assume what you want. I'm going to ask you one question. If you lie, I'll know, and you'll be dead."
"How do I know you won't kill me even if I tell the truth?"
"That's your problem. Where's Groodo the Hutt?"
"Balmorra. Before he dropped me off on Kuat, I overheard him having a HoloNet conversation with his brother on Balmorra, a factory world. That's where Groodo was headed. His name's Rigorra, and he's the Warlord of Balmorra."
―Hurlo Holowan persuaded by Zam Wesell, Jango Fett and his Westar-34 blaster to tell the truth[2]

Holowan was the creator of the sophisticated droids that piloted Groodo the Hutt's counterfeit Sun Runner, a replica of the ancient colonial transport from the Darpa sector. She also was the engineer and controller of the Hutt's Droid Control Army that attempted to take over and destroy the Fondor Spaceport and the planet's major surface facilities.[1]

Soon thereafter, Holowan was hunted down by both Jango Fett, the bounty hunter who was hired by Darth Tyranus to take the droid engineer alive, and hunters Cradossk and his son Bossk, who were simultaneously hired for the job (but to bring in her head) by Wat Tambor, Foreman of the Techno Union and a member of the Separatist Council. Fett, in the end, achieved the task, by subcontracting the job to fellow hunter Zam Wesell, and he turned Holowan over to Darth Tyranus alive. The Sith Lord, impressed with the concept of the Sun Runner scheme hatched by Groodo, Senator Rodd and Holowan—and with the ingenuity, ambition, talent, and secrecy they demonstrated—wished to recruit them to his cause.[3][4][2]

Personality and traits[]

"Listen, I don't know who hired you to catch me, but ... I have access to money on Kuat. Lots of money. So I was thinking, maybe we could work out a deal? If I help you get into Rigorra's castle— ...You'll never get to Groodo without my help! Rigorra's castle is too well-defended!"
―Holowan, to Jango Fett and Zam Wesell[2]

Hurlo Holowan, a Kuati with an aristocratic heritage, was cunning, intelligent, and very wealthy.[2] She had short dark hair and extremely pale skin (she rarely exposed herself to sunlight) and, despite her privileged background, characteristically wore a drab, gray uniform.[1]
