Brith was an individual who served the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War.^[1] Between 3 ABY and 4 ABY,^[2] Brith was stationed with Tenzigo Weems at a node on Pastil when it received a transmission from an unknown source that used an older encryption code used by the Alliance. Brith speculated it could be part of the rebel fleet that had been lost after the Battle of Hoth and was trying to check in with the fleet. Weems, however, suggested it could be Imperials and asked Brith if they remembered that the Empire had broken the older code. Brith responded they did, and so told Weems to drop a signal cloak over their location so it could not be traced. Weems then put the transmisson through, and it turned out to be coming from Imperial defectors with high-level classified information they were prepared to share with the Rebel Alliance in exchange for safe passage and protection.^[1]

Unsure of whether it was real or a trick, Brith told Weems to ask the defectors what they wanted from the Alliance and for more about what they had to offer the Alliance. Weems was informed by the defectors that they had detailed information about a top-secret Imperial weapons facility they had worked at. The defector then added that they needed hyperspace coordinates to a safe location as they would not be able to fight off the fighters pursuing them. Weems informed the defectors he would need to take the matter up with higher ups before he could do anything, and informed them the Alliance would reach back out if they were able to proceed. Weems then signed off and informed the main Alliance fleet of the defectors and their message.^[1]
