Au B'ree was a Devaronian worker at the Fekunda Outpost when it came under the control of Commander Zhou and his stormtrooper squad. When the Galactic Empire arrived at the outpost and demanded the residents provide shipments of phareen for Imperial supply lines,^[1] she^[2] was initially hesitant to engage in acts of rebellion against them. While Burl was invigorated at the thought of fighting back, Au B'ree attempted to remind her coworker that the Empire would retaliate against the entire community—she preferred to believe the Imperial troops would leave if they complied.^[1]

At Burl's request, however, Hera Syndulla arrived and encouraged Au B'ree to embrace her natural leadership qualities, praising the Devaronian's levelheadedness and ability to set realistic goals. Syndulla shocked her by suggesting that, should a resistance effort emerge on Fekunda, Au B'ree was the most suitable leader for the cause. She assisted in Syndulla's plan to free the outpost of Imperial control by frustrating the stormtroopers' efforts in the phareen processing. Following their success, she looked forward to working with the Rebellion in the future.^[1]
