During its 25 years of existence, GEM repeatedly provided policymakers with valuable insights on how to best foster entrepreneurship to propel growth and prosperity. Keeping such a long-term research activity going is rarely accomplished by even the most prestigious of individual universities. A rapid succession of short-lived projects dictated by the longevity of PhD theses is a more common currency in universities nowadays. GEM is a multi-stakeholder effort that has been able to succeed thanks to the passion and drive of its people. #gem25years

According to the #GEMGlobalReport2024, experts in most economies (37 out of 49) rated social support for women as unsatisfactory. However, in a majority of economies (27 out of 49), women entrepreneurs’ access to resources, as compared to that of men, rated as satisfactory or better. In only five economies did experts assess both social support for women entrepreneurs and their resource access compared to men as satisfactory or better: #India, #Qatar, #Norway, #Sweden and the #UnitedArabEmirates. #womensentrepreneurship #entrepreneurship

Between 2015 and 2019 among 32 OECD countries, 2.1% of a representative sample of working age adults answered that they exited a start-up and the business did not continue. Between the pandemic periods – 2020 to 2022 and among 30 OECD countries – this number increased to 3.4 percent.  https://lnkd.in/eBfaF3rK

GEM research enables countries to benchmark their entrepreneurial ecosystems against other economies and regions. For example, 62.6% of those surveyed in Slovenia said it is easy to start a business. By comparison, the European average is 52%. https://lnkd.in/eGsbYhqE

In 2004, the first GEM report dedicated to women's entrepreneurship was published. In 2019, the decision was taken to publish a GEM women's entrepreneurship report every year given the importance of this priority topic. #GEM25Years
