Arc System Works continues in its determined effort to bring super-smooth online play to its bevy of online brawlers, adding GGPO rollback netcode to one of its finest old-school fighters: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R.

The new update, which is live in the PC edition of GGXR right now, implements the much vaunted GGPO netcode to the title’s online component, while also adding several other useful features including input delay settings and ping counters. Additionally, the new update adds Player Rooms for up to six players, new training mode options, and a handful of undisclosed bug fixes and other quality-of-life improvements.

Next year will see the launch of Guilty Gear Strive which, despite misgivings about its initial lobby system, is focused on presenting players with silky-smooth online play. Given that in-person events and tournaments are still set to be quite tentative for the majority of 2021, it’s vital that any fighter arriving on the scene nails its online mode, lest it struggles to find a competitive scene right out of the gate.
