FF7 Rebirth: All Protorelic Locations in Gongaga

To be a Turk.

To get the Protorelic in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Gongaga region, you’ll have to join the Turks. Sort of. The four Phenomenon Intel required to get the Protorelic has you go through Turk VR training. Apparently, the Protorelic was digitized into this VR, and you need to go to four separate areas to allow Chadley to return it to the real world. It’s pretty contrived, honestly, but it’s not a bad set of intel jaunts. Here are all of the Gongaga Protorelic locations in FF7 Rebirth:”

There’s a port on the very south shore of Gongaga where you’ll find Phenomenon Intel 1: The Deadliest Game. It’s in the southwest corner of the area, where you’ll find an underground area. At the bottom of that, you’ll find the first VR chamber.

For the first three fights, I’ll give you the same basic advice. They’re mostly against Shinra/Junon troops, they’re usually three rounds, sometime there are Ray-Slugs, sometimes there are Flame Troopers. I suggest taking advantage of Cloud’s Triple Slash to take them down quickly because they aren’t very strong.

When it’s Riot Troopers with shields, they will sometimes block the Triple Slash. If you time it right, you can still hit them from behind with it, but it’s not very reliable. I would save them for last and take them down with braver or fire spells when I could concentrate on where they were facing. As for the Flametrooper, hit them with fire spells to blow up their fuel tank and pressure them. Once you have the tank off their back, you guessed it, Triple Slash.

Gongaga Phenomenon Intel 2: Dissident Destruction (Level 34)

You can find Phenomenon Intel 2: Dissident Destruction in a hole in the ground. Describing how to get somewhere in Gongaga is difficult. Essentially, there’s a series of arches on the path from the town of Gongaga to the reactor. Further back, there’s a path up the cliffside. If you follow that, and keep to the left, you’ll eventually reach a hole in the ground with a rope you can climb down. Descend that, and you’re at the next training area.

Gongaga Phenomenon Intel 3: His Personal Escorts (Level 35)

You can find Phenomenon Intel 3: His Personal Escorts in the northeast of Gongaga. Along the river that separates it from Corel, there’s a small port that hasn’t really had much use yet. You can get there through the natural tunnel to the west of where you started out. However, even if you haven’t been there before, it’s a rather prominent landmark that can be seen through the fog. South of that, you’ll find the third Protorelic VR chamber.

The Phenomenon Intel 4: The Deadliest Game on the path between the ruins in the southeast and the airstrip. There’s a small Shinra area there with stairs and walkways, and on the ground floor, there’s a door that least to the VR area.

This time, you’ll be fighting Elena and Rude in a VR rematch. My advice here is to target Elena first. She’s weak to lightning and high-damage attacks will pressure her. Because she’s so easy to pressure and therefore stagger, she can also be eliminated quickly. If you focus on taking her down, you can then just worry about Rude.

Rude is weak against wind. High-damage attacks are also what staggers him, but only while he’s guarding. It’s sort of frustrating. At this point, however, you probably have a summon charged up. Unfortunately, there’s no real Air-aligned summon, though the Moogle and Chocobo summon has an air element ultimate attack. I used Kujata, personally, but Titan or Alexander would be potentially good choices, as their magic is non-elemental.

Once they’re defeated, there’s no follow-up battle. There’s nothing more to do. You can just claim your Protorelic.
