For anyone not in the know, EA Sports College Football 25 will be the first entry in EA’s series of college football games since 2013. It went on hiatus after EA’s licensing contract with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) wasn’t renewed, and a few major conferences opted not to license their trademarks to EA. A new entry was finally announced in 2022, though EA stressed it wouldn’t be out until at least 2024 since it’s “trying to build a very immersive college football experience.”

When will EA Sports College Football 25 release?

After initially only saying it was aiming for a summer 2024 release, EA has formally confirmed that EA Sports College Football 25 will launch on July 19. This is exactly what NFL content creator Dov Kleiman claimed would be the case this past April.

EA made the announcement via a May 16 Twitter post, which also revealed the game’s three cover stars: University of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Colorado cornerback Travis Hunter Jr., and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards.

What platforms will EA Sports College Football 25 release for?

So far, EA Sports College Football 25 is only confirmed to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, meaning the series will be completely skipping the eighth generation of consoles (the last entry was for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360). Surprisingly, there’s been no mention of a PC version, which seems like an odd omission considering both the EA Sports FC series (formerly known as FIFA) and Madden NFL games have long since made the jump to PC. EA also hasn’t said whether EA Sports College Football 25 will feature cross-play, but that should hopefully be a given since it’s present in EA’s other sports games.

Which teams will be included in EA Sports College Football 25?

According to EA, all 134 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools will be included in EA Sports College Football 25. Individual players have the option to let EA use their likeness, but those who agree will be given $600 alongside a free copy of the game (via CBS Sports). EA did add that the 128 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs would not be included at launch, but this could mean they’ll be added as post-launch content.

Who is the developer for EA Sports College Football 25?

EA Sports College Football 25 is being made by EA Orlando. This is the same studio that worked on the series back when it was called NCAA Football, starting with NCAA Football 99. The studio was known as EA Tiburon back then, but was rebranded to EA Orlando in 2023. It’s also been responsible for EA’s Madden NFL games and the PGA Tour golf games.
