Does Shadow of the Erdtree have multiple endings? Explained

Consort of Shadow? Lord of what?

The base game of Elden Ring had multiple endings based on whose quests you’ve completed and how you interact with the Fractured Marika at the end. So with those types of options, does that translate over to the DLC? Does Shadow of the Erdtree have multiple endings?

Does Shadow of the Erdtree have multiple endings?

Unfortunately, Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion does not have multiple endings. The story this time around is a lot more straightforward. You have somewhat of a set path to take to get to the final boss, with many grueling deaths along the way.

The only real variations in the story that you have are with all the new NPCs you meet in the Shadow Realm. Depending on whose questlines you see through will determine the big confrontation at Enir-Ilim.

With that said, if you want some kind of variation leading up to the big boss fight at the end of this DLC, your best bet to do so is to explore the majority of the new area. Talk to the NPCs, follow each step, clear any required dungeons, and kill any bosses that pertain to them.

What happens after Shadow of the Erdtree?

Once you defeat the final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree, you can still freely explore the Realm of Shadow. Similar to the base game, you can still somewhat go back to places you didn’t fully explore.

If you did not fully pursue all the questlines of the NPCs like Leda, Thiollier, Hornsent, and the others, you won’t be able to go back and finish them. Before the point of no return at the Sealing Tree, things must be done or you’re effectively locked out of all those quests.

However, you can start a new game by defeating Radagon and the Elden Beast. The world’s progress will reset and you’ll be able to make different choices that affect that last confrontation in Ener-Ilim.
