But as all players know, preparation is the key to success. In this case, this means using the right Drive Discs, W-Engine, and teams. To help you drill your way to victory, here’s the best Anton Ivanov build in ZZZ and a few teams sure to awaken his true potential.

The best W-Engines for Anton in Zenless Zone Zero

The best W-Engine for Anton in Zenless Zone Zero is his signature Drill Rig – Red Axis. When equipped and at level 60, the W-Engine will offer 684 base ATK and a 50% increase in Energy Regen. Drill Rig – Red Axis will also allow Anton to deal 50% more Electric DMG with both Basic and Dash Attacks for 10 seconds after performing his EX Special or Chain Attack. The effect cannot stack and can only be triggered once every 15 seconds. Although the base version of the engine is already great, I recommend trying to get it to at least three stars. Doing so will increase its Electric DMG boost to 65%.

Using The Brimstone is also a safe bet for Anton, as the S-Rank will offer the same base attack as our top pick while also providing 30% ATK% at level 60. While at one star, the W-Engine will allow him to get a 3.5% increase in ATK after performing his Basic, Dash, and Counter Attacks. The effect can stack 8 times for a 28% increase. Each stack will last for 8 seconds and can be applied in 0.5-second intervals. There’s not much else to be said here, as Anton can easily trigger all 8 stacks by performing the final hits of Enthusiastic Drills. As expected given its Crit Rate substat, the BP-exclusive Cannon Rotor is also a good pick here.

The best F2P W-Engine

The best F2P W-Engine for Anton is the Starlight Engine. Apart from offering a great increase in attack through its 594 base stat and 30% ATK substat at level 60, the W-Engine will increase Anton’s ATK by 12% (at one star) after he performs either a Dodge Counter or a Quick Assist. The buff does not stack and will last for 10 seconds.

The best Drive Discs for Anton Ivanov in ZZZ

The best Drive Disc-composition for Anton in Zenless Zone Zero is a pairing of a 4-piece Thunder Metal and a 2-piece Woodpecker Electro. This is a must, as Thunder Metal will offer a permanent 10% increase in Electric DMG and increase his ATK by 28% for as long as an enemy is shocked. Woodpecker Electro, on the other hand, will offer a handy 8% boost in Crit Rate. I know the latter does not sound like much, but it will help you reach the mandatory 50% Crit Rate/+80% Crit DMG threshold a DPS needs to abide by.

Best stats and substats

True to the above, I recommend that you go with Crit Rate as the main stat for your fourth disk and Electric DMG as the main stat for the fifth. For the sixth disk, go with either ATK (if you are using Drill Rig – Red Axis) or Energy Regen. Keep in mind that the first three disks will always have HP, ATK, and DEF as their main stats., respectively. Substat-wise, I recommend prioritizing Crit Rate, Crit DMG, ATK, and Anomaly Proficiency. To recap, you can check out the best main stat for all Drive Disks below:

Drive Disk NumberRecommended Main Stat
Drive Disk #1HP
Drive Disk #2ATK
Drive Disk #3DEF
Drive Disk #4Crit Rate
Drive Disk #5Electric DMG
Drive Disk #6Energy Regen / ATK

The best teams for Anton Ivanov

Anton works best when in double and triple-Electric teams. In special, I recommend pairing him up with both Rina and Grace. While Rina will offer a handy PEN boost, increase the duration of Shock by 3 seconds, and offer a 10% Electric DMG boost to the party for as long as a shocked enemy is on the field, Grace will guarantee that you will be able to apply the effect as frequently as possible and will add to your damage while Anton is recharging.

If you don’t have Rina, Koleda or Anbi can work great in the slot given their ability to provide massive amounts of Stun. For those who don’t have Grace, Soukaku —or as I like to call her, one of ZZZ’s Bennetts— will be my main pick, as she will provide a massive ATK buff. Using Ben in her place can also work given his 16% Crit Rate buff and shield. If you use Soukaku, Lycaon becomes the absolute best pick for the stun support role.

What about Bangboos?

As no team is truly complete without a trusty Bangboo, the S-Rank Plugboo is my main pick when using Anton as a DPS (or any Electric team in general). When in the field, the Banboo will provide a massive amount of Electric Anomaly buildup. For those who prioritized other S-rankers or if you have yet to pull for the above, Electroboo is my main A-Rank pick. The latter will provide the same effect as our top pick, although at a lower output.
