Palworld: How to make Cake and why it’s needed

Let them eat cake

When breeding in Palworld, you need to provide food to sustain the often questionable pairing between your Pals. You can provide any food, but one food rises above all others in terms of effectiveness — cake.

Once you’ve unlocked the Breeding Pen and begun your Eugenically charged journey into selective breeding, you’re going to need to make cake in order to sustain the mating process.

Whether you’re aiming for Fusion Pals or trying to get a pal that has evaded capture in the wild, cake is the only food item that guarantees the production of an egg. It’s a long recipe to prepare, so make sure you’ve got some fire-type Pals who will do that hard work for you while you’re out exploring the world.

The option to make cake is not available with your basic campfire. To unlock the recipe, you need to first unlock the Cooking Pot at level 17. It costs two Technology Points.

Once you’ve done this, you’re going to need all the ingredients to make a cake:

  • 2 Honey
  • 8 Eggs
  • 7 Milk
  • 8 Red Berries
  • 5 Flour

Honey, Milk, Red Berries, and Eggs can be found in the wild by capturing or killing the Pals that drop them (Beegarde, Chickipi, Caprity, and Mozzarina, respectively), but if you’re looking to make a lot of cake, then I’d recommend investing in a Ranch or two.

Flour is slightly more difficult to come by as you need to create this on your base, and you’ll need two things for this:

First, you’ll want to unlock the Wheat Plantation at level 15, plus some Wheat Seeds to plant there. For a full guide on how to get Wheat Seeds, check out our guide

Once you’ve grown the Wheat, you’ll need a Mill, which also unlocks at level 15. Once you’ve put your Flour into the Mill, you’ll need a Water element Pal in order to produce the Flour you need for cakes.
